BIO
Jenna Macy(b. 1993 Honolulu, HI) is an interdisciplinary artist with research-based practices of interactive ceramic sculpture, video performance, and sound. Their work explores social issues surrounding the body such as gender, autonomy, trauma, and intimacy. Often filtered through sardonic observation, their work is a humorous and playful response to these social issues, comparing human behavior to animal mating rituals as they might appear in a nature documentary.
Macy received a BFA in ceramics at Maryland Institute College of Art(2016) and an MFA in ceramics at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa(2021). They have received various awards and recognition for their work including “Best In Show” in Hawai‘i Craftsmen Annual Statewide Exhibition 2022, the Windgate Fellowship(2016) and the Career Advancement Fellowship(2022) from the Center for Craft Creativity and Design. They have exhibited and performed locally and internationally at Aupuni Space, in the Honolulu Biennial 2019 and in Kerrie Lowe Gallery in Sydney, Australia.
